Taking your business to the next level is something that we can all aspire to. For Cliff Ravenscraft, this is a topic that he is focused on every day. In this impromptu conversation with Cliff, I turn on the recorder and ask him about how he has taken his business to the next level, and how that applies to you. It's a great conversation.
Taking It To The Next Level is what Cliff Ravenscraft is all about.
Cliff is in town to speak at the Podcast Movement conference this weekend. We'll both be there (Cliff has a keynote and I have a session on Sunday afternoon). I caught up with Cliff today in Dallas to ask him some silly questions posed by my listeners, like this one from Kent:
@masonworld @GSPN can I listen on an 8 track?
— Kent Faver (@KentFaver) August 13, 2014
For the record, I could not get Cliff to commit to making episodes available on 8-Track.
What happened during this “2 minute recording” was super cool — Cliff and I had a great conversation about how he has grown his business and how you can do that too. Cliff discusses three major concepts:
- Make sure that your business adds value
- Make sure you have a clear vision
- Make sure you surround yourself with great people
Important note from Cliff regarding Star Trek: The episode of Start Trek that he was referring to was titled “Errand of Mercy.” It's actually Season 1 Episode 27 on Netflix (not episode 29). Wikipedia says it's episode 26 of season 1 as they do not include the pilot. For those who don't want to watch the episode, you can read about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
Interested in the Next Level Conference? Here's a link. It's not an affiliate link or anything — I'm just excited about attending.
It's a great listen. Hope you enjoy it.

Episode 081 Transcript
I’m very excited to be back. You can probably tell I’m in my car. I’m actually sitting in the parking lot at the Westin Galleria in Dallas. I’m excited because I just finished having breakfast my good friend Cliff Ravenscraft.
Cliff and I are both attending the Podcast Movement Conference here in Dallas this weekend. In fact, Cliff and I are both speaking. As you might imagine, Cliff is a high-toned featured speaker with a big keynote address and I’m a less important speaker buried in some session on Sunday. But I’m privileged to be at the conference and be addressing the podcast community and I’m really excited about that.
To be honest, I’m more excited about the opportunity to spend time with Cliff. Cliff is running is very first Next Level Conference co-located with the Podcast Movement Conference on Friday. I’m going to get to spend the entire day with Cliff masterminding the Late Night Internet Marketing brand and business, looking at how to take that whole thing to the next level. We’ll be talking about that experience on the podcast, because I’m taking you guys with me.
For now, I have to tell you what you did. You guys did a great thing. I asked for some silly questions to ask Cliff and I thought we’d just jam that audio somewhere in the show and it would be funny. I got some great questions from listeners to ask him – thank you very much – but it turned into this whole big discussion about Cliff’s philosophy on business, how he got where he is, and how that applies directly to you guys.
I’m very excited for you guys to hear Cliff’s views on mindset and adding value in business, how that got him where he is, and how that applies directly to what you need to be doing in your business. It’s a really great intimate conversation between me and Cliff, we even talk about Star Trek during the conversation.
Without further ado, let me take you to a small table that Cliff and I found near a stairway in a nook and cranny in the Westin Galleria in Dallas. If you can picture this, it’s Cliff in shorts and a t-shirt, me dressed up for work before the day started at my day job, just located in an undisclosed location in this hotel talking about online business.
