imageI got very excited this weekend when I got an email from my buddy Melissa over at Internet Marketing Sweetie about a new product that was coming on the market called WP Fan Pro. The purpose of this product is to take advantage of the new iframe capability for Facebook Fan Pages and make it easy for a normal person with tiny technical skills to create a Facebook Fan Page.

This is exciting for me because I’ve personally paid developers several times to make Facebook Fan Pages and I find it very difficult to even explain to my virtual assistant how to create these things. Some of the products that I’ve tried in the past have fallen well short of the mark of what I need in terms of quality, so I was excited to learn that there was a product out there that Melissa thought might be pretty good.

So, I clicked on the link, put in my Paypal password and bought the product on Saturday. I ignored until Sunday night after all the Mother’s Day festivities around 10:00 PM and by 2:00 AM I had a working and quite sexy brand new Facebook Fan Page for MasonWorld.com.I was so impressed with the product I decided I’d give it my full endorsement, recommendation and review it here on the blog at Mason World. I think it’s an outstanding way for regular people to get very high end Facebook Fan Pages created for their own use.

How it Works

WP Fan Pro takes advantage of a capability that’s built into HTML called iframes. Basically what an iframe does is it tells your browser to load another web page, by that I mean another URL, into the current web page into an invisible square inside the page.

In the case of Facebook Fan Pages this means that your browser first loads the regular Facebook Fan Page and then the HTML code tells it to insert a second page seamlessly in the center where your wall would normally be. That’s how Facebook is using iframes in order to make it easy for people like us to create Facebook Fan Pages using normal HTML.

imageThe problem is normal people like us are not HTML designers, and to make matters worse there’s all this complicated configuration you need to do in order to get a Facebook application created and get all this to work together. Now, I know it’s certainly possible to do this and my buddy Pat Flynn over at the Smart Passive Income Blog has an outstanding tutorial on how you can do these sorts of things for free. But, to be honest with you I find that all very cumbersome and complicated and was looking for a better solution.

WP Fan Pro is really a sophisticated WordPress theme. You simply create a brand new WordPress installation with this very simple theme installed, create your content, and tell Facebook to load that WordPress blog inside your Fan Page. Now, the WordPress blog that you’ve created with WP Fan Pro is by design very simple and made to look nice inside of your Facebook Fan Page.

My Example

So, let me show you what I mean. The first thing that I did was create a subdomain off of MasonWorld.com called Facebook.latenightim.com and I installed WordPress there and uploaded the WP Fan Pro theme to that location. It was very simple to do, just like any WordPress blog creation.

I then created four or five pages. If you go to Facebook.latenightim.com right now what you will see is a single squeeze page that doesn’t look like a WordPress blog at all.

That’s the page that shows up on my Fan Page at Facebook.com/masonworld before you press the like button. You’ll notice that the page has one simple purpose, it’s a call to action to get the user to press the like button, become a fan of my page, before they can access the content inside.

Behind that page you can find the remainder of the pages that I created for my Fan Page environment by going to Facebook.latenightim.com/home. There you’ll find five very simple pages; a home page that the person sees right after pressing the like button, a page about my podcast, a page about products that I endorse, and a page about how to contact me, etc…

(screenshot above shows how they display on the Facebook side of things)

You can make these whatever you want. Again, this is simply a tiny little WordPress blog that actually lives over at Facebook.latenightim.com Of course, no one is ever supposed to visit Facebook.latenightim.com – they’re just viewing this through the Facebook Fan Page.

Once that simple WordPress blog is created over at Facebook.latenightim.com you simply log onto your Fan Page or create it if you need to create a new Fan Page and then create a Facebook application. This is a free process, it takes about 10 minutes to do. Jason and the boys over at WP Fan Pro have an excellent video tutorial about how to do this. I was able to get it done correctly the first time.

Cool Features of WP Fan Pro

WP Fan Pro has several cool features that you can choose from when you’re deciding on how to get things going. Of course, you can block content to the rest of your fan page, like I’ve done by creating a front squeeze page, a page that only shows up before a person hits “like” and never shows up after they hit like.

You can create multiple pages. There are different kinds of squeeze pages that you can create. You can add in a graphic that points to the like button and calls people to remember to push the like button, which is something that you might want to do if your fan page wasn’t protected behind the like button, and so on.

Lots of configuration options. Four different kinds of squeeze pages and the ability to custom configure all the colors in the theme make this a really neat option.

It’s incredibly simple to use.  Here is a video that I just uploaded to YouTube to help describe exactly how this thing works.

WP Fan Pro Review (WordPress Fanpages for Facebook)

The Bottom Line

The real bottom line on this product is that I was able to create an outstanding Fan Page including the content inside the pages and all the formatting in just under three hours.

Now, two of those hours were spent actually stealing the content off my own blog and jamming them into the posts for the Facebook Fan Page and 30 minutes was spent fumbling around because I thought I knew what I was doing and I didn’t bother to read the excellent instructions that come with the product.

There are a couple of license options available for the product — ranging from $47 – $97 at the time of this writing.  I purchased the $97 option, giving me the ability to make Fan Pages for clients.

I’m convinced that you could actually start creating Facebook Fan Pages once you’ve done a couple and get them done in 30 minutes or less. That’s why this product comes with 25 licenses.  When you buy the product you’re licensed to create 25 fan pages.

Why would you want to create 25 fan pages? In case you want to start a Facebook Fan Page business.

If you’re looking for an easy way to create some direct virtual assistant type of income online, adding the ability to create Facebook Fan Pages to your list of services that you offer seems like a real no brainer for the small investment that this product requires.

This product has my full endorsement. I’m impressed with it, I use it myself, and I hope you’ll give it a look. If you have any questions be sure to leave them in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer them or to get answers for you.

P.S.  Links to WP Fan Pro in this post are affiliate links.  If you purchase the product, I get a commission.  Of course, I would recommend the product anyway based on the fact that I am actually using it and it rocks.
