A lot of people need to make their online businesses work, especially with our current situation, and currently, there are two scenarios happening: one, there’s a lot more activity online, which is good for online business; second, a lot of people with online businesses have been impacted because of this pandemic.
Now, given the fact that a lot of people are connected to the internet, there’s a big chance that they visit your site, but the question is, how will you convert these visitors into buyers?
As Ray Edwards says: Copy is the ultimate upside leverage, it means the words you use on your website, whether it’s on your sales page, your checkout page, your emails, your podcast, your blog post titles — it’s all copy. The words you say get people to take the action you want them to take.
Your topics and choice of words play a significant role in keeping your visitors interested in your content so here’s Ray Edwards PASTOR methodology in creating a copy.
Person
When creating a copy, don’t make it sound salesy or sleazy. As you are someone who wants to help someone make a decision, make it sound that way. When writing a copy, always consider the following:
- Who am I writing to?
- Who is the person that I’m solving a problem for?
- What is the problem that I’m helping them to solve?
- What pain is in the way and how do they feel about it?
Amplify and Aspire
Amplify the consequences and the pain of not solving the problem. You can quickly segue from talking about the dire nature of the problem to talking about the life they aspire to lead.
Struggle, Solution and System
Talk about the story of your struggle, the solution you discovered and the system you put in place that other people can duplicate. Create a copy that could answer the questions:
- Did this person really do that?
- Has he helped other people do it?
- Is he able to help me?
Testimony and Transformation
Show before and after results to demonstrate the transformation and to testify the effectiveness of the product or services. Giving your customers the answer that this is what’s going to happen to them if they do this.
Offer
Make them aware of the features, the prices and how the product/services work but spend 80% of your offer presenting the benefits. Answer the question “What’s in it for me?”
Request a Response
Ask them to buy.
One of the amazing things about copywriting is that it is something that you can learn. Once you do, you can use it over and over and over again in every possible walk of life. You can use it to write long-form sales pages as well as writing ads. The benefits of it are just, they don’t ever stop.
