Merry Christmas from Late Night Internet Marketing. The original version of this post from December 25, 2007, was just a simple holiday greeting, and honestly, that is exactly what it should have been.
A Christmas Tradition
This blog was barely a week old when Christmas 2007 rolled around. I had just started writing, was still figuring out WordPress, and the idea of building an internet business was brand new and exciting. Taking a day off to celebrate with family was the right call, even if it meant publishing nothing more than a holiday greeting.
Over the years, the holidays have always been a time for me to step back from the hustle of online business and remember what matters most. Family, gratitude, and the simple joy of being present with the people you love.
For the Part-Time Entrepreneurs
If you are building something on the side, the holidays can feel complicated. There is a tension between wanting to make progress on your business and wanting to be fully present with your family. I have felt that tension every single year since 2007.
Here is what I have learned: the business will be there when you get back. The holiday moments with your kids, your parents, your spouse, those are finite. Take the day. Take the week if you can. Your email list, your content calendar, your affiliate campaigns will all survive a few days without your attention.
One of the reasons I named this project Late Night Internet Marketing is that it was always meant to fit around the edges of a full life, not replace it. Building a business one night at a time means some nights you do not build at all. And that is perfectly fine.
So wherever you are and whatever you celebrate, I hope your holidays are filled with the people and moments that matter most to you. Here is to another year of building, learning, and growing together.
Merry Christmas, and thanks for reading.
