Mark shares a quick behind-the-scenes vlog recorded on his drive home from work, talking through the two items weighing heaviest on his internet marketing to-do list.
The Two Priorities
1. Forever Affiliate Case Study Sites
Mark committed to building 20 Forever Affiliate sites as a public case study. He recommended the product to his audience, and people bought it on the strength of that recommendation. That creates an obligation to follow through. Six months remain in the year, and while he has made progress, he is behind his initial timeline.
The income potential matters, but the real motivation is accountability. When you publicly commit to something and people trust your recommendation, delivering on that promise is non-negotiable.
2. Autoresponder Overhaul
His email autoresponder sequence is outdated with broken links and content that no longer represents the quality he wants to deliver. When new subscribers sign up for his newsletter, they deserve automated emails that are genuinely helpful from day one.
Mark plans to tackle both priorities during his evening work sessions after putting the kids to bed, working from roughly 10:00 PM onward. This is the reality of part-time internet marketing: you fit it into the margins of family life and a full-time job.
Key Takeaways
- Public commitments create accountability that drives follow-through
- When you recommend products to your audience, you have an obligation to demonstrate results
- Your autoresponder is often the first extended interaction a subscriber has with you; keep it current
- Building a business in the margins of life requires ruthless prioritization
What's Changed Since This Post
Mark published this in June 2013. The Forever Affiliate product is no longer available, but the principle of public case studies to build trust with your audience remains a powerful strategy. Modern email platforms like ConvertKit, Mailchimp, and ActiveCampaign have made autoresponder management significantly easier with visual automation builders, tagging, and segmentation. The challenge Mark described of keeping sequences up to date is one every email marketer still faces.

I hear ya Mark.
I seem to put too much on my own plate. I don’t know why I do it. :-O

I think it’s pretty common for entrepreneurs to have more (good) ideas than time. LOL
I like the new vlog format, a good way to get out a quick post, especially by adding the transcript. I am looking forward to your vlogs from some of those great places you travel to. Keep it up.

p.s. Check out my new site and leave me a comment too! I’ve got my first post up and getting some graphics done now.
Hey there Mark, awesome episode! Really a good way to use your time while driving around! I usually listen to various podcasts as I have to drive about 30 km from my home to work and that takes me about 30 to 40 minutes so the podcast is almost finished when I arrive at work/home! Nice way to be really productive!
I am really looking forward on your follow up with this program Forever Affiliate as I am thinking about buying it too but I want to know how your experience goes first… no pressure lol I will be building my first niche site soon following Pat Flynn’s Niche Site Duel 2.0 (no marketing intended) and will be trying out what I learned so far and maybe this course can leverage it for me! I love the affiliate format! Great job Mark, keep it coming!
