Is Artificial Intelligence taking over the content industry? Actually, AI created that title for this podcast. I wanted to break down this question of AI and try to understand the future of AI. We’ve been talking about AI in terms of SEO for a long time and I think recently, one of the concerns people have is what the role of artificial intelligence will be when it comes to creating content. We cover that in this episode.
Show Notes
Lots of software online claims to write using artificial intelligence. I’ve seen one which can create an AI voiceover, an AI animated video and even choose an appropriate stock photo if you provide it with a potential script.
But can this content be ranked? Is this the kind of content that you can actually use to build a business online?
I played with these AI tools, particularly one called Jasper (formerly Jarvis) and WordHero, the one we are testing in this episode today.
What is the source for artificial intelligence content to begin with?
These bots build databases of things that have already been created on the internet. Then, they use natural language models to rewrite things that already exist. This means that, in general, these tools are not capable of original thought. So there is no need to worry that artificial intelligence will take the place of content creators that are creating original, unique thoughts (which you could argue is the best kind of content online). These AI bots will take the place of content creators that aren’t really creating new thoughts, those that summarize other people’s thinking.
One of the interesting things AI enables are people from other countries that work to create content that is more appropriate for the US market. But what I’ve experienced, and what you’ll see shortly in our experiment, is that we really need to guide the AI and help it understand exactly what it is that we’re trying to do. Left to its own devices, it just spews out a bunch of unconnected thoughts.
At this time, AI can synthesize things that it reads but it doesn’t really understand yet how to put thoughts together to make a point to construct arguments, to support an idea. These kinds of logical thinking behaviors are not yet within the capability of these artificial intelligence tools online.
With that said, I think it’d be interesting to see what we can do about creating a podcast with artificial intelligence in the form of WordHero. Listen in as we go through the motions of what we would do if we were to do an AI podcast.
