Show Notes
Blogging as an Extension of Yourself
Leslie followed his passion and good things that he never imagined happened. Even his most successful clients are the ones that blog about the things that they’re already doing and that they are excited about it. Blogging is an extension of who you are so don’t simply pick out a niche because that seemed popular and you can make money out of it. Plus, if you do things for reasons which are intrinsic, you are more likely to stick it out through the inevitable obstacles and setbacks.
Explore a thing that you are very excited about, like side hobbies that gets you so pumped but, that’s just one part of it. If you could find something that you are passionate about that other people are passionate about as well, and they have problems that need solving, and you could provide that solution then and go into that direction.
The Significance in Giving Value
In neurobiology, when you have wins, you are getting dopamine hits because it’s something you care about and you feel good about it. When you start putting some stuff out there and you start getting views, people visiting or watching your videos, getting positive feedback – it re-energizes you to know that you’re putting value out in the world.
An extremely important business exchange is the exchange of value for money. You give me money and I give you something in return that you find valuable. It may be valuable because it’s solving a problem or because it’s entertaining – whatever it is, there is an exchange in value.
Still Possible to Build a Successful Blog?
It is definitely still possible, but it has evolved. What blogging was back in the day is not what blogging is today. There were fewer blogs, you could create almost anything, and people would come — that’s no longer the case.
It’s becoming more and more important to focus on specific niches, providing a lot of value to your chosen niche, building a community around the content that you’re creating and engaging with people. Blogging today has become more multi-dimensional as well. When you go to a blog, you’re not just going to see written content, you will now see audio podcasts, videos, articles that go along with content, etc. etc.
A blog is now really a central location for all the content that you create and what’s essentially happening is blogging is becoming more human. You connect with people, join their community and interact not just with the creator of the content, but other members of their community.
Embrace the changes that are happening because it’s makes it more possible to connect with people in a deeper way.
