When Jack Dorsey (@jack) Evan Williams (@ev) and Biz Stone (@biz) started Twitter in 2006, I am quite sure that they had no idea what they had.  I never even heard of Twitter until 2008, so I sure had no idea what they had.

Twitter is a Micro-blogging platform, and unless you have been visiting Mars for the past year, you know that Twitter is all the rage lately.  As you know, writing on Twitter is called micro-blogging because you can enter up to 140 characters per message.

Who would have thought?  If you would have asked me about Twitter in 2006, I probably would have said “cool but useless.”

How many other things like that am I missing?

I wonder this all the time.   If I missed Twitter, what else am I missing?

Well, how about QuickScrib.com?  My buddy Josh Spaulding is in the process of launching a new experimental project called QuickScrib.com.    Like Twitter, it's free to use, free to join and there is no affiliate program.   When first looked at it, I thought “cool but useless.”

Yikes — that is exactly what I said about Twitter.

Well that makes me wonder if QuickScrib.com might be the next coolest thing since Twitter.

Here is what Josh has to say about QuickScrib.com

QuickScrib is a Free tool that allows you to share text (stories, recipes, instructions etc.) with others without having to deal with email. You simply enter your text, click a button and you get a link to your own WebPage that you can share with anyone you want!

Share stories, recipes, instructions etc. quickly and easily on FaceBook and other social media sites.

Share with people who you aren't connected with online… just give them your link and you're done!

QuickScrib is also a way for you to share your story with the World! Publish your own WebPage for the World to see!

The possibilites are endless!

So, if Twitter is microblogging — then QuickScrib.com mus be mini-blogging (a little bigger than a Twitter, but not as big as a real blog).

Just to make sure I am covered when Josh becomes as famous at the Twitter guys, here are ten reasons to check out QuickScrib.com

  • It is totally and completely free (powered by AdSense)
  • You can use it to take notes that you want to share
  • You can use it to post anonymous content (check the TOS and be nice)
  • You can use it to archive data (like recipes)
  • You can send the resulting Scrib URL and content to Facebook
  • You can send the resulting Scrib URL and content to Twitter
  • You can claim that you were one of the first users
  • You can use it to keep “private” notes
  • You can teach you grandmother how to post stuff online
  • You can write something about MasonWorld.com

Go check it out at QuickScrib.com — like I said, it's free.  I personally have no idea if something like this will go viral or not, but it is a neat idea in any case.
